Hands-On Learning in Mecosta Elementary

Mecosta Elementary hosted an Enrichment Day on May 30, offering students a fun and educational experience with over 25 activities. The event, overseen by teachers, included puffy paint crafts, straw rockets, puzzle races, bounce house time, neon painting, glow parties, petting lambs, sidewalk chalk, and Mecosta ninja warrior challenges.

Principal Kyle Talicska highlighted that the day blended active fun with educational opportunities, focusing on providing varied experiences involving science, math, and measurement. This approach allowed students to engage in hands-on and enjoyable learning activities.

Enrichment Day emphasized STEM-based activities, integrating science, technology, engineering, and math to create an interdisciplinary, hands-on, problem-based learning environment. Talicska noted that the activities helped introduce students to new concepts and tasks, giving them the chance to learn in different ways and try activities they hadn’t experienced before.
