Pupils from Banff Academy are organizing a public event called Mission Connect to showcase the variety of community groups, clubs, and activities in Banff and Macduff. The event aims to reconnect the community and increase awareness of local opportunities for residents and visitors.
Various organizations, including Banff and Macduff Men’s Shed, Deveron River Brass, and Banff Rugby Club, will present information on their activities. Additionally, S1 pupils from Banff Academy will introduce their “Doorstep Explorers” project, which features over 50 walking guides highlighting local landmarks, art, poetry, and music. These guides cater to diverse explorers, including dog walkers, horse riders, cyclists, families, and tourists, with accessibility considerations.
Visitors can also join local blogger Tracy Chalmers for a mid-morning town center walk exploring Banff’s history and heritage. The event, coordinated with the help of Vivien Rae from Evoke Marketing and funded by Aberdeenshire Council’s Two Towns Big Ideas fund, will be held at The Bank, 40B High Street, Banff, on June 7 from 9am to 6.30pm, and June 8 from 9.30am to 1pm. Admission is free, and all are welcome.
